Joel Latibeaudiere | Swansea City must bring intensity against Wigan Athletic
Joel Latibeaudiere has warned Swansea City they must bring the intensity if they want to continue their fine home form when they host Wigan Athletic on Saturday (3pm).
The clash with the Latics will be the Swans last home match before the World Cup and Latibeaudiere wants the side to go into the four-week break on the back of another home victory.
But the 22-year-old appreciates many will view the Swans as favourites given they are 15 places above Wigan in the current Championship standings.
However, the nature of this unpredictable second-tier campaign means that equates to just a nine-point gap, and Latibeaudiere knows if the Swans fail to bring the right mindset and concentration then they won’t get the result they want.
“You’ve got to play the team that’s in front of you,” said Latibeaudiere.
“In this league, anyone can beat anyone and if we don’t come with the right intensity and play with the passion that we show day in and day out then we can make it difficult for ourselves.
“As long as we turn up to the game – play the way we know we can and everyone is on it then we know what we can do. We’re not taking it lightly.”
The centre-back turned wing-back has featured in every game since returning from a shoulder injury which kept him out for several weeks, and he feels that his own performances are improving as well as the team's displays as a whole.
“I feel like I’m playing well, but I feel that I’m playing well because the team is playing well,” he explained.
“We’re all in good form at the moment.
“When everything is clicking, the style that we’re playing makes individuals look good.
“I’m feeling more comfortable every game at wing-back and then the team is putting in good performances.”
