Joel Cotterill makes loan move to Stockport County

Swansea City midfielder Joel Cotterill has joined Stockport County on loan for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign, subject to international clearance.

Cotterill links up with the League Two Hatters, who were beaten in last season’s play-off final by Carlisle, as he looks to gain valuable senior experience.

The 18-year-old midfielder has been with the Swans since the age of seven, and has been a standout performer for the under-18s and under-21s in recent season.

He put pen to paper on his first professional contract in June 2022, and has since extended terms through to the end of June 2026.

Cotterill made his senior debut for the club in August 2022, coming on as a substitute against Oxford United in the Carabao Cup.

At the club's 2022-23 awards dinner, the Wales youth international picked up the Academy Player of the Year award after a brilliant season with the under-21s, who he has skippered with distinction.
