Joe Allen | We will give it our all
Joe Allen insists Wales’ World Cup assignment against England is no mission impossible, and has vowed Rob Page’s side will leave everything out there in their efforts to progress from Group B.
Wales face the Three Lions knowing they must win to have any chance of advancing to the knockout stages in Qatar.
Defeat to Iran has left them with it all to do against an England side who currently sit top of the group table.
Wales will start as underdogs, but midfielder Allen, 32, knows that does not mean the task ahead of them is insurmountable given what many of the squad have achieved at international level.
“It’s not impossible, no. It’s a tough task, it’s always uncomfortable when it’s not in your hands and you’re relying on certain things to unfold but while there’s still a chance it’s really simple for us,” he said.
“We’re fully motivated, fully incentivised into throwing absolutely everything into getting the win. “Then, who knows? Hopefully, there’s a chance we can still get us out of this group.
“I don’t think we could be more motivated. We’re in the World Cup and have to win.
“Regardless of who we play in it, we all know what’s at stake and what a huge moment it is for our nation.
“It’s about putting everything into it. Ideally you want it to be in your hands, but this is the situation we find ourselves in.
“While there’s still a glimmer of a chance of going through we’ve got to throw everything we can at it."
