Joe Allen says everyone at Swansea City is fully aware of what is at stake in Saturday’s south Wales derby, and know they must turn in an improved showing.

The Swans head to Cardiff City Stadium this weekend having won the last four meetings between the sides, but are looking to bounce back after a disappointing display in defeat against Bristol City last time out.

Head coach Michael Duff made clear his side simply have to be better, and midfielder Allen – who is no stranger to the rarified atmosphere of derby day – knows it is vital the Swans put together a performance.

“I am pretty sure everyone here already knows and understands the magnitude of this next game,” said the former Wales international.

“We know we have to do better, it is vital that we do, it is as simple as that, and it is a huge game coming up to try and set things right.

“We’ve had a poor result and poor performance at home, we have had good spells in games, but it is about making sure we stretch that out over a full 90 minutes.

“We have no option other than to dust ourselves down and be better.”
