Joe Allen urges Swansea City to put things right against Coventry City
Joe Allen says Swansea City need to put things right and cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves when they seek to bounce back from Boxing Day defeat at Coventry City on Friday night (7.45pm).
The Swans suffered a disappointing loss against Southampton, following a second-half display Allen and caretaker head coach Alan Sheehan both acknowledged as being far below the standard required.
They have an opportunity to respond when they take on the Sky Blues at the CBS Arena, and Allen – who made his first appearance since September as a substitute at St Mary’s – says it is one the visitors must take.
“We don’t have time to feel sorry for ourselves, this Christmas period the games come thick and fast and that carries on into the new year too,” he said.
“We’re away again on Friday, and in that short period we need to make things right.
“We know we weren’t good enough against Southampton, and there is plenty for us to work on.
“We want to make sure we put in a good performance for the fans, who were very loud and supportive at St. Mary’s, as they always are.
“Coventry are a good side and have had good form recently, so now our attention is all focused on Friday."
