Jess Williams | This win puts us in a good place
Defender Jess Williams felt Swansea City Women's 3-1 win over Aberystwyth Town Women was the ideal way to kick-off a challenging week heading into a busy December.
Williams set up centre-back partner Nia Jones for the opener after seven minutes, then doubled the lead herself with a header from an Emily Richards' corner.
Rebecca Mathias pulled one back for the visitors as her cross from distance found the back of the net, but Aimee Deacon’s eighth goal of the season in the second half sealed three points.
“It was an important win for us, a good game on a tough surface, but we got the three points and that’s all that matters,” said Williams.
"It was good for us to get some goals in the back of the net today and push on into a busy period.
“This gets the ball rolling now, it puts us in a good place ahead of the game in midweek and we want three points again."
Williams was delighted to be able to contribute at the top end of the pitch, and feels that her partnership with Jones is growing every week.
“The only time I find myself in the box is for those set-pieces so it feels good when I do make an impact at that end of the pitch," she added.
“Me and Nia [Jones] are building a big bond now, we are starting to gel and understand how each other plays.
“A key factor has been not splitting up that partnership, giving it time to grow, and I think it’s working well.”
