Jess Williams | The way we played showed that there is so much potential
Swansea City Ladies defender Jess Williams felt her side's 6-2 win over Bridgwater United Women showed glimpses of their potential.
Stacey John-Davis netted twice for the Swans, with two trialists also scoring to put the Swans 4-0 up at half-time in their first pre-season friendly.
Monet Legall rounded the Bridgwater goalkeeper to make it five, before the visitors pulled one back with a goal of their own.
Chloe Chivers would make it six with a powerful strike, before Bridgwater netted a second goal late on.
Williams was glad to see the promise her side showed, but felt it was just the first step in their progress as they head towards the 2023-24 Genero Adran Premier campaign.
“It’s good to get a win, but it’s just a stepping stone for what we want to build on come the start of the season," she said.
“There is a different set up to the team and a few different players, but I think we immediately just clicked together, it looked like we’d been playing together for a long time.
“Training has been good and it’s setting us up for that first game of the season nicely.
“We don’t want to say anything to early, but the way we played here showed there is so much potential, and hopefully come the first game of the season that will shine through.
“This is the first stepping stone in what we are trying to build, when the first game of the season comes that’s all that matters, but for now it’s about these stepping stones to build the fluency of the team and build how we want to play.”
