Jerry Yates | We need to keep the effort levels high
Striker Jerry Yates wants Swansea City to keep the effort levels high and make sure they give head coach Michael Duff a first win in charge against Northampton Town on Tuesday night (7.30pm).
The Swans host the Cobblers in the first round of the Carabao Cup on the back of an opening-weekend draw against Birmingham City in the Championship.
Yates was on the scoresheet on his Swansea debut, finished an excellent attack which also involved Matt Grimes and Liam Cullen.
That secured a point, and now Yates wants the Swans to build on the positives of their showing on Saturday.
“We have got to go out there and get the win,” said Yates.
“We are going to need another performance and to put plenty of graft in, that’s what the fans are going to want to see from us.
“We have had a couple of days to work on the training ground and then it’s down to us to go out there and get the win.”
Swans boss Duff will wait before making a decision on whether to make changes for the cup tie, but his expectations will remain the same regardless of who takes the field for the hosts.
“We will count the bodies we have got and the medical team will feed back to us on whether there are any injuries to report, or any bumps and bruises,” he said.
“We will then get together as a staff and pick the team for Tuesday, but whatever team we do pick it will be one that we think is good enough to go and win the game.
"We want to win the game. It's not a case of putting the kids out, we want to get our first win and go through the rounds of the competition."
