Jay Fulton | We’ll put the work in and be ready to come back after the international break
Jay Fulton insists Swansea City will regroup over the international break and put the work in to be ready for a key period of the season when action resumes.
The Scot got off the mark for the season by becoming the 15th different Championship goalscorer for the Swans this term when he headed in Jamal Lowe’s cross to give them an early lead at Ipswich Town.
However, the Swans found themselves behind by half-time through goals for Jack Taylor and Conor Chaplin.
The second half saw George Hirst convert from the spot for the hosts shortly before Liam Cullen was dismissed for a second yellow-card offence.
Jamal Lowe pulled a goal back with a fine individual effort in stoppage time, but the Swans left East Anglia empty handed.
Despite defeat, Fulton believes the Swans can learn plenty from that match as they prepare to make the most of time on the training pitch during the two-week break ahead of a four-month period where there will be no further international breaks and a hectic festive schedule to content with.
“There’s plenty of stuff to work on during the break,” he said.
“We’ll view the Ipswich game back and work on the things we need to improve.
“I think we’re disappointed with the spell at the end of the first half and the beginning of the second half.
“We believed when we came here that we had the players to compete. We came up short in a couple of areas, but some of the performance was good.
“We’ll have a few days’ rest, but then we can get through the tactical work and the stuff that we need to work on.
“We’ll put the work in and then we’ll look forward to coming back against Hull."
