Jay Fulton | We want to take confidence and put in a performance
Midfielder Jay Fulton says Swansea City will be looking to put in a performance the travelling Jack Army can be proud of when they travel to Southampton on Boxing Day.
More than 1,300 Swans fans are set to make the 344-mile round trip to the south coast, while a trip to Coventry City awaits just three days later.
But Fulton wants the Swans to take confidence from Friday evening’s victory over Preston North End, with Jamie Paterson’s brace sealing a final victory on home turf in 2023.
“I think the three teams who came down from the Premier League last season are really strong,” he said.
“We obviously know the Southampton manager. It’ll be a tough game, but on the back of the three points on Friday we’ll be looking to take the confidence into that game.
“Since Sheez (Alan Sheehan) has come in, we’ve won two, drawn one and lost one. Friday was a bit of a setback in terms of performance but we know what we’re trying to progress and what we’re trying to do.
“I don’t think we were at our best, but we stuck together and Pato’s shown up with two good goals.
“This is a busy time, and I think fans enjoy the Boxing Day fixture and the away fans will be massive for us.
“Hopefully, we can put on a show for them on Tuesday."
