Jay Fulton | We have momentum and need to make the most of it
Jay Fulton was pleased to be back on the scoresheet after netting his first league goal in 18 months to seal a comeback win over Reading, but his focus is on making sure Swansea City carry on building momentum from their fine run of form.
It was a fantastic strike from the Scot which wrapped up a 3-2 win over the Royals after being two goals down, as the Swans showed the character and resilience that has seen them secure 10 points from losing positions this season.
But any personal glory for his stunning 30-yard strike - Fulton's first Championship goal since a header at Sheffield Wednesday in April 2021 - was miles away from the midfielder's thoughts.
Winning and getting the three points was all that mattered.
“It was one of those, I thought it was in as soon as I hit it,” Fulton said of his goal.
“I’d like to add a couple more goals. That’s not my main job but it’s always nice to score.
“There’s a massive game coming up at the end of the week, and we wanted to get this win against Reading to give us momentum going into the weekend, especially on the back of the defeat to Burnley.
“We know how important the derby is. I’m sure it’ll be a full house and the fans will be up for it. We need to match that.
“I think the new boys already understand how big the game is just from being around the city, but we need to make sure we’re going into that match with a game plan and look to play our way and build on this good run we have been on."
