Jay Fulton | It's an important week and we want to seize the initiative
Jay Fulton insists Swansea City are ready to make sure they bounce back from their weekend frustration by rounding off their pre-World Cup schedule on a positive note.
The Swans travel to face Birmingham City at St Andrew’s on Tuesday evening, before heading to the John Smith’s Stadium to take on Huddersfield Town.
They make up the final pair of fixtures before the season pauses for four weeks while the global showpiece takes place in Qatar.
Russell Martin’s side head to take on the Blues looking to get back to winning ways after a weekend draw against Wigan where they fought back from two goals down.
But midfielder Fulton wants the Swans to make sure they seize the initiative from the off in what is an important week.
“We’ve come away from the weekend disappointed, there’s no question about that,” he said.
“We’ve conceded two goals from corners, we have put a lot of work in on those areas and we just have to do a lot better than that.
“We gave ourselves a mountain to climb, and even thought it was us pushing late on for a winner it’s still frustrating because we made life difficult for ourselves.
“We need to start games better, to start games faster, to start games the way we have been finishing them.
“We should be starting the game at the right intensity because that’s what we prepare to do, and so that is something we are going to have to look at.
“But we have a chance to bounce back quickly, there are two games and we have to respond.
“They are both away so it will be tough. There will be a lot of travelling involved, but we have to be ready for that because we have done well in this period up to now.
“It’s up to us to make sure we finish it on the right note.”
