Jarred Harvey hoping for Cup moment to savour
Coach Jarred Harvey is hoping for an experience to savour when Swansea City Under-18s face Millwall in the Professional Development League Cup final at the Den this evening (7pm).
The Swans booked their place in the final by beating Watford 2-0 in the semi-final at Landore Training Ground last month.
In the group stage, the development side topped their pool following wins over Cardiff City and AFC Bournemouth, plus a thrilling 3-3 draw with Plymouth Argyle.
A 3-0 win over Sheffield United, meanwhile, saw them progress to the semi-finals.
Harvey - who took up the head coach role in January - says it will be a brilliant experience for the young Swans to play with silverware on the line at an EFL stadium.
"First and foremost, I want the boys to enjoy the experience more than anything," said Harvey.
"Most of these boys have been playing with each other since under-nines, and now to play in a cup final with their mates is wonderful.
"It will also be a great experience for the under-16 players who will travel, and it's testament to their hard work throughout the season.
"The journey they have been on to get to the final has been incredible, the squad has changed many times and it shows the level they have.
"We know the emotion that will come with the game, and we'll have to manage that, but I have no doubt they will with the togetherness of the squad.
"We'd love nothing more than to win and lift that trophy. I know some of the boys haven't won any silverware with this club, so we want to make sure we have a moment to savour."
