Jarred Harvey | The boys showed great character and adaptability
Coach Jarred Harvey praised the character and adaptability of Swansea City Under-18s after they fought back to claim a 2-1 victory over Fleetwood Town.
Sammy Henia-Kamau put the Swans a goal to the good inside 10 minutes, but Fleetwood drew level not long after through Rylee Wilkinson's long-range effort.
However, in-form Thomas Woodward would get the Swans back in front after some clever build-up play from Yori Griffith and, although the striker would later miss a penalty, the Swans were able to claim all three points.
It was the Swans' sixth win out of eight games in all competitions, and Harvey believes the squad are starting to see their hard work pay off.
"It was a very different experience for the players. Playing in difficult conditions against a physical side is never easy," said Harvey.
"Even though we didn’t get into our rhythm in the first half, we showed excellent character and adapted well.
"We should have gone in a goal up at half-time, but in the second half we started really well and were able to find our way, playing some good stuff.
"We created lots of chances that on any other day go in, and we go on to win the game comfortably. However, we kept pushing for the winner and what a goal it was.
"Yori Griffith, who was immense today, had the composure to find Woody, who finished well.
"It’s great to see how far the boys have come in a short space of time. They’ve shown now they can adapt to the other side of the game, and are getting their rewards for that.
"Credit has to go to the all under-15 and under-16 players who have stepped up recently, and put in top performances. They should be really proud of themselves."
