First-team manager Jamie Sherwood believes Swansea City Women's game management at key moments is costing them, after seeing them exit the Welsh Cup at the hands of Wrexham on Sunday.

An Abbie Iddenden brace, plus goals from Ava Suckley, Olivia Fuller and Rosie Hughes saw the north Wales side ease to a place in the semi-finals with a 5-0 victory.

And Sherwood acknowledged his side are enduring a tough run of results, having won once in their last five games in all competitions.

“We're just in a tough spot at this present moment in time,” said Sherwood.

“We need to make sure that we stick together and roll our sleeves up and work hard for our teammates.

“We have to stay consistent with our beliefs and consistent with the way that we want to play and believe that it will change.

“We need to manage moments better, whether that's in the final third, whether that's in the building phase, we've got to manage those moments better.

“For me, it's not things that we have to change, it's just we have to continue to believe in what we are.

“Like I said, we're in a tough spot and tough spots require tough personalities and tough characters, and the squad's full of strong characters and strong personalities.

“So we've got to make sure that we pull ourselves together, we all regroup again this week and put ourselves in the best place going into next week's fixture.”
