Jamie Sherwood | We weren't good enough in either box
First-team manager Jamie Sherwood admitted Swansea City had fallen far beyond the level of execution required in either box as their unbeaten start to the campaign was ended by a 5-0 loss to The New Saints Women.
TNS took the lead after nine minutes as Caitlin Chapman’s cross found the back of the net, and Chantelle Teare made it 2-0 just seven minutes later.
Teare made it three before the break as she headed home a cross from Chapman, with Maria Francis-Jones netting the visitors fourth before Teare completed her hat-trick with a stunning strike eight minutes before full-time.
Sherwood was disappointed with the performance and says the Swans must quickly address the areas they fell short in.
“We weren’t good enough,” said Sherwood.
“We weren’t good enough in either box, in between that we showed a little bit of our personality and our identity, but not enough.
“TNS are deserved winners, we simply weren’t good enough at either end.
“We’ve found ourselves behind in games before and shown that character and belief in what we are doing to get through it.
“We are all accountable for this result, players and staff will all be in through the week to make sure that we deal with this in analysis.
“We will prepare for the next game as we have for every one so far, with our identity and our personality.
“Our standards will remain as high as they possibly can be, but we dipped below that here and we will address that.”
