Swansea City Women first-team manager Jamie Sherwood was left disappointed by his side’s performance as they suffered a 2-0 defeat at Briton Ferry Llansawel in the Genero Adran Premier.

Lucy Powell put the hosts in front after 24 minutes, Ferry capitalising on a loose ball in the Swansea half before teeing up Powell to strike.

The Swans pushed for an equaliser, with chances for Katy Hosford and Taite Trivett going astray.

Ferry ensured that the Swans would regret those missed opportunities with two minutes to go as Alison Witts headed home from close range to seal three points.

And Sherwood felt the Swans lacked the cutting edge necessary to take anything from the game.

“I don’t think we showed the best version of ourselves,” said Sherwood.

“I think we created enough opportunities to win a game of football, we haven’t taken those opportunities and given away two sloppy goals, which we know we can be better at.

“With the players we had available, we are more than capable of winning the game, we created the opportunities to do that, we’ve been undone by two really silly goals.

“If we were better in both boxes then I think we come away with something, but it’s been the tale of our season really.

“We will assess and reassess and review what happened on the day, those conversations have already started with players.

“We are looking at how we improve and how we make sure that we continuously are better in both boxes, that is what’s needed right now.”
