Jamie Sherwood | We didn't get what we deserved

First-team manager felt his side didn’t get the result they deserved as a last minute Wrexham goal saw Swansea City Women miss out on a place in the championship phase of the Genero Adran Premier.
Ava Suckley put Wrexham in front as she capitalised on a loose ball in the box, before Maisie Miller converted from a corner for her first goal for the Swans.
But Wrexham would head into the break in front, Abbie Iddenden twisting and turning before powering a shot past Charlie Haynes.
The Swans were level again early in the second half as Katy Hosford headed home her first goal of the season, but in added time Erin Lovett converted from close range as Wrexham took the final place in the top four championship phase, as the Welsh top-flight splits for the final period of the season.
Jess Williams had hit the bar late on for the Swans, with Stacey John-Davis also hitting the crossbar with the score at 2-2.
Sherwood felt his side's performance was deserving of a positive result, and felt that displays earlier in the season were what ultimately cost his side a top-four spot.
“It’s not the result we deserved, we’ve hit the crossbar twice, had three cleared off the line and done more than enough to win a game,” said Sherwood.
“In the first half we didn’t play the way that we can, in the second half we came out and we were a lot better, but in that first half we still created enough opportunities to go in with the lead.
“In the second half we did that again, but unfortunately it wasn’t to be for us.
“I’m proud of the players, I can’t be frustrated with the way they played this game, every player stuck to the game plan.
“We can be frustrated from the turn of the year when we’ve maybe underperformed and we haven’t played the way that we can consistently.
“But we can only be proud of the players for their efforts, they put in a very good performance and they haven’t got what I think they deserve.”
