Jamie Paterson | We need to stick together
Jamie Paterson says Swansea City need to stick together and work to cut out their errors following a frustrating 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town.
The Tractor Boys – who are fourth in the table and keeping pace in the hunt for automatic promotion – took the lead through Nathan Broadhead inside 15 minutes.
The Swans levelled through Jerry Yates on the half-hour mark, but parity was shortlived as Conor Chaplin finished off a sweeping move from a quick free-kick to regain the lead for Ipswich just four minutes later.
Luke Williams’ side pressed hard in the second period, but could not find the finishing touch to equalise for a second time.
“It’s a tough one to take because I thought we were playing well,” said Paterson.
“We scored to get back into the game and get on the front foot, and it felt like it was only a matter of time before we scored another.
“Then, we have one lapse in concentration and it puts the pressure on again. It’s something we need to work on because that’s happened a few times.
“It doesn’t feel great because of the run of results that we’ve had, but we need to stick together and take the positives from pushing a side who are near the top of the table.
“It’s well documented that we’ve had a tough run of fixtures, but I feel like we’ve more than matched a good team here.
“We just need to stay positive. We need to get some wins under our belt and obviously we’ve got Sunderland away next. That’s another tough game so it’s not getting any easier.
“We just need to stick together, keep plugging away because I feel we’re not far off being a good team.”
