Jamie Paterson believes hard work and togetherness have been key in helping Swansea City come through a tough start to the season to record three wins in a row.

A 2-1 victory over Norwich City on Wednesday night made it nine points from the last nine available for Michael Duff’s team, while there are also unbeaten in four having drawn at Queens Park Rangers during this sequence.

One of the hallmarks of Swansea’s run of form has been their energetic pressing work without the ball, with Paterson among those working his socks off and allowing the Swans to win possession back on numerous occasions.

The Swans have also impressed in possession – they have scored nine goals in their last four games – and Paterson feels they are showing a desire to work for and support each other in all areas of the game.

The midfielder is also relishing his run in the team following an injury-hit 2022-23 campaign, and is eager to keep pushing on.

“All of the guys are working hard in the press together, I think the fans can see we have each other’s backs,” he said.

“It really is a good group, I have said it before and I mean it. We have had a hard run but we have stuck together, we have deserved these wins, but there is another game coming up quickly, and hopefully we can take another result into the international break.

“After the start we had, there are one of two things you can do. You can either feel like the world is against you and sulk about it, or you can stick together and work to turn things around, and everyone has done that.

“We have had to work to try and find the right formula and you can see that everyone is plugging away and that shows the strength of the group.

“Personally, I am enjoying it, I am playing in a number 10 role, which is more my natural position. The important thing is I am fit and getting fitter, and I like to show that energy when I am fit.

“Last season was a bit of a write-off because of injury, but I hope I can start adding some goals to the tally, but I am definitely enjoying it.”

The 31-year-old is also enjoying the responsibility of being a senior figure in the Swansea squad.

“I think you fall into that role when you look around and you realise everyone is a lot younger than you,” he said with a grin.

“But you know you can lean on that experience, I have played a lot of game in the Championship, I have been there many times, and I want to help the young lads as much as possible.

“We have guys like Grimesy who are also experienced, Ben Cabango is young, but he is vocal. We have leaders and I want to help us as a group.”
