Jamie Paterson | It is down to us to do our supporters proud on derby day
Jamie Paterson has urged Swansea City to bounce back from their Bristol City disappointment and give the Jack Army a performance to be proud of in Saturday’s south Wales derby.
The Swans are back on home soil when they host Cardiff City in what will be the 70th meeting of the clubs in league action.
The hosts are looking to return to winning ways after defeat at Ashton Gate, and having lost the first derby of the season at Cardiff City Stadium back in September.
Paterson knows the Swans must turn in an improved showing if they want to take all three points and the bragging rights, and he insists Luke Williams’ squad are in no doubt the responsibility they have.
“The lads know how big this game is to the fans and hopefully we can make them proud,” said Paterson, who brought up a century of Swansea appearances last weekend.
“We know we have to perform better, and it is a massive game for everybody.
“It is a one-off game where form doesn’t mean anything. We will watch today’s game back and reflect but then we will put it to the side.
“I have been telling the new signings what it teams, and I have been telling Ronald it’s like Brazil v Argentina or Barcelona v Real Madrid.
“We will give it everything, we know the atmosphere in the stadium is going to be great, everyone is going to be right behind us, and we will need to make everyone proud.”
