Jamal Lowe highlights Swansea City's defensive effort
Goalscorer Jamal Lowe highlighted Swansea City’s solid defensive effort as a key factor behind their impressive 2-0 win over Barnsley.
Steve Cooper’s side bounced back from a midweek loss at Derby by claiming their 10th victory of season, with Lowe and a Victor Adeboyejo own goal seeing off the Reds at the Liberty Stadium.
It was also the Swans’ 11th clean sheet of the campaign from 20 games, and Lowe pointed to the team’s solidity as a vital factor in their latest outing.
“It was a hard game. To get another clean sheet, a goal and a win is great,” said Lowe, who has scored three goals in as many games.
“From day one, I’ve wanted to help the team as much as I can – whether that be with goals, assists, hard work. I’m just glad to get the goals.
“We’re doing very well on a defensive front too. To get 11 clean sheets in 20 matches - that’s pretty impressive, to be fair.
“The work that the back four or five and Freddie (Woodman) do to keep those clean sheets – as well as the midfield and me and Andre (Ayew) up top – it’s a big team effort.
“As a squad, we’re putting emphasis on it. If you get a clean sheet, you’ve got more chance of winning; it only takes one goal. It’s been a good theme of our game and we’re going to try and continue it.”
