Jake Bidwell looking forward to Liberty backing
Swansea City’s Jake Bidwell is looking forward to having the Liberty Stadium crowd right behind him against Hull on Saturday, after experiencing how challenging the atmosphere can be for opposition players in SA1.
Bidwell, 26, is in line to make his Swans debut against Grant McCann’s Tigers after starting the last five pre-season friendlies in a row following his arrival as a free agent.
It will not be the first time he has played at the Liberty, having featured in QPR’s 3-0 defeat in South Wales last term.
But he knows what side he’ll be glad to be on come 3pm on the opening Saturday of the season.
“I’ve been on the receiving end of the Liberty crowd last year so I’m looking forward to getting out there next and hopefully playing in front of a full house,” said the Everton academy product.
“Hopefully we can continue with the good results we’ve been picking up in pre-season with the crowd behind us on Saturday.”
Bidwell featured in last weekend’s win over Champions League Atalanta, where the Swans came from behind to win 2-1 and complete a 100 per cent record over the course of their pre-season assignments.
“It was a great game to play in against tough opposition and it was a good test for us,” he added.
“It’s another decent result moving into next week and it was a little taster for me for what the atmosphere will be like against Hull.
“There was a decent crowd for a pre-season game and I’m sure everyone is looking forward to this weekend.”
