Jacob Cook is savouring a "proud" moment after signing his first professional contract at his hometown club.

The 18-year-old has signed terms through to the end of June 2026, with an option to extend by an additional 12 months.

Cook first joined the Swans at under-nine level and he is in the second-year of his scholarship at the club.

He has impressed with his composure in possession and his ability to read the game, also receiving recognition at youth level with Wales.

He helped the Dragons reach the 2023 European Under-17 Championship finals, and featured at the tournament in Hungary.

"It's a very proud moment for me and my family, I've worked very hard to get here and I just want to keep doing that," said Cook.

"The deal will bring me up to over 10 years at the club, and it's my hometown club, which makes it even more special.

"Making my debut is the number one goal for me, as is it is for everyone at academy level, there'll be no better feeling than playing in front of the fans for the club I've supported my whole life.

"I'm still a second-year scholar, and to be playing with the under-21s week in, week out just pushes me even more."

The youngster, who hails from Morriston, has been a regular for the under-21s over the last two campaigns.

And he has his sights set on bigger opportunities in the coming years as he looks to fulfil his lifelong dream of first-team football.

"I'd set myself a target at the beginning of the year to be playing regular under-21s' football, and I've done that, but the hard work doesn't stop there," he added.

"The dream, of course, is to step out in front of a full crowd at the Swansea.com Stadium, I'll keep learning and working hard to make sure that happens.

"Everyone around me has helped me so much. All the coaches I've ever had, teammates; they've been amazing.

"But that is especially the case with my family, who have taken me to training all these years, travelled to away games, it means a lot and it means even more to be rewarded with this."
