Iwan Morgan excited to take on Europe's best
Swansea City striker Iwan Morgan is eager to test himself against Europe's best as he and Wales prepare to kick off their 2023 Uefa European Under-17 Championships finals campaign against hosts Hungary on Wednesday night (7pm UK time).
The 17-year-old finished the season as top scorer for Swansea City's Under-18s with 28 goals in all competitions, and played a key role in Wales' qualification for a first age-grade tournament since 1981.
Qualification also marked the first time Wales Under-17s had reached a major tournament in their history after a second-half comeback against Montenegro in Newport back in March booked their place in Hungary.
Craig Knight's side responded after a quick-fire double from the visitors in the first half of their Elite Round clash.
It was Swansea striker Morgan who pulled one back just after half-time, before Dylan Lawlor levelled proceedings five minutes from the final whistle. The draw saw Wales top their group with five points.
Wales had won their opening game 4-2 against Scotland, with Morgan bagging a brace.
"It's going to be a great experience. The Elite Round back in March was so enjoyable, I think I'm still on a high from that to be honest," said Morgan.
"I'm really excited, it's a historic moment for us and we get to go and take on Europe's best teams. It'll be tough, but I cannot wait.
"For me, it's such a big achievement and it is for everyone involved in the whole process.
"We're all a close group of boys, we're all good friends and that's what is so important. Having some club-mates there is amazing, too.
"We're ready to give it our all, and we showed that fight and passion in qualifying, and we'll look to recreate that all over again.
"Our first game is against Hungary and the focus is all on that."
