Injury misfortune strikes Connor Roberts as Wales exit Euro 2020
Connor Roberts suffered injury misfortune as Wales’ Euro 2020 adventure was ended by defeat to Denmark in Amsterdam.
The Swansea City defender started for the fourth-straight game at the finals, having played every minute of the group stage games against Switzerland, Turkey and Italy.
Wales fell behind to a Kasper Dolberg strike before Roberts was forced off five minutes before the break; appearing to suffer a groin injury as he stretched to try and keep the ball in play on the touchline.
Rob Page’s side conceded second-half goals as Dolberg, Joakim Maehle and Martin Braithwaite netted for the Danes, with Harry Wilson’s red card rounding off the last-16 defeat for Wales.
While it was a disappointing end to Wales’ tournament, Roberts was among those to stand-out in national colours, with the defender scoring the memorable late clincher in the crucial victory over Turkey in Baku.
