Injured players making progress towards returns
Alan Sheehan says a number of players are nearing a return to action for Swansea City, but does not expect to have any of them back in time for Saturday’s trip to Rotherham United.
The caretaker head coach revealed defender Nathan Wood, midfielder Joe Allen and striker Mykola Kuharevich have all taken a part in training this week as they step up their recoveries from injury.
“Woody is back on the grass, which is great, he is a great kid and he is in a good place. His injury came at a time where he was really starting to find his stride so it’s good he is close to coming back,” said Sheehan.
“Myko and Joe are out there too, but not available for the weekend.”
Sheehan also suggested he has been assessing some of the bright talents in the club’s academy ahead of selecting his squad for the weekend.
"There are some really good players coming through in the academy such as Kyrell Wilson, Filip Lissah and Sam Parker,” he said.
"We will be bringing an academy player along with us this weekend, and I hope we can give them a chance to play for this football club.”
