Hat-trick hero Morgan Whittaker earns praise from Swans boss
Morgan Whittaker earned the praise of Swansea City head coach Russell Martin after netting a hat-trick in the Carabao Cup win over Plymouth Argyle.
The forward scored three times in the final 11 minutes as the Swans secured a 4-1 victory over the Pilgrims at the Swansea.com Stadium.
Whittaker’s treble made him the first Swansea player to walk away with the match ball since Scott Sinclair in the 2011 play-off final.
And Martin believes the January signing from Derby has plenty more to offer as he continues to work at his game.
"He's playing in a role that's a bit different for him, as a lot of the guys are," said Martin.
"But I thought he was fantastic. He's got a lot to really work on, but he has a lot to work with.
"He's been great since we came in, he’s been really positive. He has a lot of attributes. It's about finding the best way to utilise him and tonight he's done himself the world of good.
"I think that'll really help him psychologically more than anything to really feel he's learning that position and that he's growing into it.
"He's put himself in a really positive light."
