Harry Jones | We dug in and got the win we deserved
Harry Jones praised a resilient team performance after Swansea City dug in to claim three points and a clean sheet at home Millwall in the Professional Development League.
The Swans – fresh from reaching the final of the Nathaniel MG Cup – led 2-0 at the break thanks to a Charlie Veevers’ goal from close range and a Kyrell Wilson finish at the end of a brilliant, flowing movement.
Cameron Congreve added a third in the second half as Anthony Wright’s side moved to within two points of the second-placed Lions in the PDL South table.
It was a third consecutive clean sheet for the development side, despite playing the final part of the game with 10 men following Filip Lissah's red card, and the former Arsenal youth player was quick to praise the defensive effort of his teammates.
"I thought we were good with the ball, we stuck together defensively, and we dug deep to get a clean sheet," said Jones.
"They're a tough side to come up against, but we can go up against anyone when we stick to our plan and the information the coaches give us.
"A huge credit to the boys who scored as well, the goals were great. It was a real team performance."
The Swans remain unbeaten on home turf since November 2022 in the league, and Jones believes the record is down to the togetherness of the squad.
"We love playing at home, it's where we're most comfortable, and to still carry on our unbeaten run at home in the league is incredible," he added.
"We mentioned it after the game in the changing rooms about how long we've kept this going, and we want to go as far as we can.
"Our away form needs work, but we want to take this positivity into Friday when we face Colchester."
