Harry Darling | Plymouth is another massive game
Harry Darling wants Swansea City to back up their hard-fought win over Derby County by claiming another three-point haul when Plymouth Argyle visit the Swansea.com Stadium on Wednesday.
The Swans moved seven points clear of the bottom three courtesy of a 1-0 victory over the Rams on Saturday; Jisung Eom scoring the only goal to reward a resolute defensive showing.
The clean sheet was Swansea’s 11th of the season, and a fourth in their last seven games, with the defensive work-rate being exemplified by centre-halves Darling and Ben Cabango, and a brilliant covering tackle from Joe Allen during the final moments.
Darling is pleased Swansea are showing a real solidity, but he has warned they cannot take their foot off the gas when Argyle head to SA1 looking to build on a fine victory over Norwich City that has reignited their survival hopes.
“It’s another massive game, one we need to go and win,” said the defender.
“It will be another tough game because they are fighting for their lives, and they had a big win on Saturday.
“Hopefully we can back this result up with another victory.
“We were solid against Derby, we feel we should have had more clean sheets over the season but we need to keep working to improve and work hard.
“I know it probably wasn’t the best watch for the fans, but we are at that stage of the season where the three points is the only thing that matters.
“We knew what Derby would bring, they are a tough and physical team. You saw that they are prepared to stick the ball in the box and make you defend.
“To be fair to the boys, we defended really well as a group, and a massive credit to Joe Allen at the end because that moment was as good as a goal for us. He is a brilliant player and he offers so much, it was an assist last week, and it was a key tackle this week.”
