Harry Darling has enjoyed Swansea City’s tactical flexibility in recent games and hopes it can prove a real asset over the remainder of the season.

Centre-half Darling, who joined the Swans last summer from MK Dons, had previously played in a three-man defence under Russell Martin and continued to do so earlier this season.

Recently the Swans have switched to a four-man backline with Darling striking up an effective partnership with Ben Cabango in the middle of the defence.

Swansea have regularly flipped between formations within games themselves, and have been able to continue to dominate games with the ball.

And, on the back of two wins in their last three games, Darling believes that bodes well as they seek to make up the three-point gap to the play-off places.

"We've gone to this new formation recently which I feel has worked really well," he said ahead of this weekend's trip to face Queens Park Rangers.

"I think performances, for the majority, have been quite good. Sometimes the result hasn't quite gone our way.

"But I feel like we can start to turn that around now and turn good performances into results.

"You've seen from the performances, it's suiting us. Like the gaffer says, in the games, it doesn't really look too different, no matter what formation we play.

“It's going well so far, and hopefully that can carry on this weekend.

“We’re such a young group, a lot of us are still early in our careers so to go somewhere like Sunderland last weekend and get a result was really good..

“I’ve never been to Loftus Road, but that’ll be an experience. I’m looking forward to it.”
