Harrison Ashby | I feel I am in a good place and want to kick on
Harrison Ashby feels he is in a good place and hopes he has made the most of his opportunity since coming into the Swansea City team.
The full-back has had to be patient with fellow summer recruit Josh Key in excellent form, but injury to the former Exeter man has given Ashby a chance.
His performance in the weekend win at Blackburn was described by head coach Michael Duff as the Newcastle loanee’s best since joining the club.
And Ashby is keen to kick on.
“Football is a strange game, and things can change very quickly. I hope I have come in and made the most of the opportunity,” he said.
“I felt like it went pretty well at Blackburn and we will see what happens, although I should have scored with the chance I had late on so hopefully I’ll do better next time I am in that position.
“But I can feel the chemistry growing with the lads, the understanding is coming in terms of how the lads play and how I play alongside them. The gaffer is working with me on the things he wants me to do and improve on.
“I feel I am getting into a good place and I want to kick on from here.”
Ashby helped the Swans keep a fourth clean sheet of the season at Ewood Park, and he felt the Swans had shown the different sides to their game in the 1-0 win.
“We showed a good mix of the different parts of the game. I think you can see we can cause teams problems with the way we play with the ball, but we were also able to dig in and defend our goal, making sure we came away with the result,” he said.
“The lads have been phenomenal in terms of how they have stuck together as a group. When you lose a couple of games you have to have the spirit to respond in the right way.
“I think we showed that and got the win."
