Swansea City Under-18s’ midfielder Harlan Perry believes their win against Barnsley can provide the foundation for a strong finish to the season.

Two first-half goals from Sammy Henia-Kamau saw the Swans record a 2-0 victory over the Tykes, giving them a first win in four matches and a first clean sheet in seven.

Perry skippered the age-grade side after goalkeeper Kit Margetson was ruled out by a calf injury picked up in the warm-up.

The Wales youth international hopes the Swans can build on their dominant performance, and finish a campaign which has seen them reach the Professional Development League Cup final, on a high.

“I think we played well, we all worked hard together as a team and thankfully the performance rewarded us with the win,” said Perry.

“We wanted to bounce back to winning ways after some disappointing results and the boys are really happy.

“We have had a good season overall with a good cup run, we now have three games left - including a south Wales derby - and we just want to keep the momentum going and finish on a high, which will give us a good platform for next season.”

Perry’s performances have seen the youngster called up to the Wales Under-17s’ squad for the upcoming European Championship finals in Cyprus.

The Dragons face Denmark, Austria and Croatia in the group stage, and Perry is excited to be able to represent his country in a major tournament.

“I can’t wait to meet up with the boys, its an honour to represent your country and I am just excited,” he said.

“It will be a great experience to go to Cyprus and experience a tournament finals, and hopefully we can go far in the tournament.”
