Grimes joins Northampton on loan
Swansea City midfielder Matt Grimes has joined Northampton Town on a season-long loan.
The move sees England Under-21 international Grimes link up with former Swans David Cornell and Raheem Hanley at the Sixfields Stadium.
Grimes trained with the Cobblers today and will be available to make his debut in Saturday's League One clash at Charlton.
The 22-year-old joined the Swans from Exeter City for an undisclosed fee in January 2015 and signed a four-and-a-half-year deal.
He made three Premier League appearances at the tail-end of the 2014-15 season, and after three more Swans appearances in the early months of 2015-16, Grimes joined Blackburn on loan for the second half of the campaign and played 13 times for the Ewood Park club.
In 2016-17, he joined Leeds United on a season-long loan, but made only 12 appearances during a frustrating year in Yorkshire.
Grimes was part of the Swans' squad for the pre-season tour in America, but wasn't part of the match day squad in last weekend's Premier League opener against Southampton.
He will now look to gain valuable first-team experience with the Cobblers, who are yet to pick up a point from their two league games so far.
