Gorre: Let's build on opening PL2 point

24th August

Kenji Gorre has challenged Swansea City Under-23s to build on their first point of the season when they face West Ham in Premier League 2 on Sunday.

The winger’s second-half goal helped the young Swans to a 1-1 draw against Manchester United in division 1 this week.

The 22-year-old, who joined the Swans from United’s academy in 2013, believes the result shows the U23s can challenge in the top flight of development football.

“We were really happy with the game on Monday,” he said. “We dug in well and the performance showed we have potential in the league.

“Defensively we were strong and Joe (Rodon) and Cian (Harries) showed how strong we can be at the back.

“A point against United was a good result but it could have been better and we know that.

“Now we have to try and build on that result, continue to improve and challenge for our first win against West Ham this Sunday.”

Swansea City’s Under-23s face West Ham in Premier League 2, division 1 at Victoria Road this Sunday, 27 August (1pm).
