Gonçalo Franco | I am getting stronger every day
Gonçalo Franco believes he and Swansea City are improving day by day as the new Championship season looms on the horizon.
The Portuguese midfielder scored his first goal in a Swans shirt when he fired home the leveller in Saturday’s friendly against FK Vardar of North Macedonia at Sportzentrum Friedberg.
The fixture was the final part of Swansea’s week-long training camp in Austria, and their next outing against Rio Ave will be the final tune-up before the league campaign gets under way at Middlesbrough on August 10.
There is still plenty of hard work to be put in, but Franco feels he is building his fitness and adjusting well to his new surroundings.
“I'm very happy with my goal although I am disappointed about the result. We are a club who always play to win and it would have been good to get the result,” said Franco.
“But I feel better and better physically, and I am ready to help the team try and achieve its goals in the future.
“This trip to Austria helped us a lot to correct some things that we needed to. It has been a good trip and the team is growing day by day. I feel I am doing the same.”
