Glory Nzingo | We are disappointed, but we should be proud of our achievements
Glory Nzingo aims to go one step further next season after being left disappointed with Swansea City Under-21's 4-2 defeat to Sheffield United Under-21s in the Professional Development League play-off semi-finals.
The Swans found themselves 2-0 down in the first half, with Louie Marsh and Jay Tinsdale netting for the Blades, but Nzingo would pull one back for the Swans before the break.
However Sheffield United’s two goal lead would be restored early into the second half as Sam Aston tapped home from close range, with Thomas Woodward’s late goal proving to only be a consolation.
Nzingo felt that his team were capable of a better performance than they showed, but praised the character of his teammates to reach this stage.
“It’s a really big upset for us because we know that we are much better than that,” said Nzingo.
“Today was a tough day against a tough side and unfortunately for us we didn’t show up as well as we could have.
“We showed much better character in the second half, but unfortunately today it wasn’t enough so we are upset about that.
“We are really proud, especially because it’s been a really long time since the club has reached this stage.
“We have a lot of challenges across this season, we’ve had players in and out of the team, but one thing about us that we always show great character and we have done through the whole season so we should be proud of ourselves.
“We’ve shown now that we are capable of reaching this stage, we know our qualities individually and as a team and we will definitely want to go on and win it next season.
“The fight we showed is us in a nutshell, there are obviously disappointments sometimes in football, but we keep fighting and show that character in the tough times.”
