Glory Nzingo | A "special feeling" to score my first hat-trick for Swansea City
Glory Nzingo says it is a "special feeling" after scoring his first hat-trick for the development side in their 4-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra.
The Irishman netted a 15-minute hat-trick, with last term's under-18s' top-scorer Thomas Woodward also getting on the scoresheet for the hosts.
Nzingo was on course for a fourth goal of the fixture when he turned the ball in the net from Mitchell Bates' cross, but it was ruled offside.
And the 20-year-old feels the hard work of pre-season had paid off, praising the performance of his teammates.
"It feels amazing, and a special moment, I'd like to thank God, to get a first hat-trick for the club and on the opening day of the season," said Nzingo.
"We've all worked so hard in pre-season, it was a tough six weeks, and I thought our performance was of a good level. We could have had some goals in the first-half, but we came out fighting in the second half and got the result we deserved.
"Big credit to the younger boys who played, they've also been excellent throughout pre-season and they played a huge role in the win.
"I was so happy to be able to show my character in front of goal, and the boys helped me get in the right positions in the final third and it paid off.
"This win will give us confidence going forward, starting the season right will always be a bonus and we've got a long trip to Fleetwood next week, so carrying on this momentum will be crucial."
