George Byers | Swansea City enjoying life under Steve Cooper
George Byers says the style of play Steve Cooper is looking to implement at Swansea City is being relished by the first-team squad.
The Swans have won all four of their pre-season fixtures under head coach Cooper as they build towards the Championship opener against Hull on August 3.
The latest of those wins came courtesy of a 3-1 victory at Exeter on Saturday, with Swans boss Cooper pleased by the progress his side are making.
It is early days in the reign of the former England Under-17s' coach, but there was an encouraging tempo and intensity to Swansea's play at St James Park, particularly during an opening half they completely dominated.
There were passages of crisp one-touch passing and movement, with the likes of midfielder Byers heavily involved in numerous positive passages of play.
And the 23-year-old says it is a manner of playing that has been enthusiastically received by the players.
"It definitely was fun to be out there. The tempo being high is what we want," said Byers.
"We want to work the other team and pass them to death. I think we did that in the first half.
"In the second half, we let our foot off the gas a little bit but that happens in games and we’ve just got to push on from here.
“I think everyone’s bought into that. We’re showing on the pitch that what we’re doing is working – what we’ve been doing on the training ground and in previous games.
"We’ve just got to keep doing more of it and get the right results.
“I think everyone’s looking fit and strong. You can see when we’re playing that everyone is good and comfortable on the ball, and that’s what we need with the season only a couple of weeks away."
