George Byers to miss Swansea City's Championship opener
George Byers is the only injury absentee for Swansea City’s Championship opener against Preston on Saturday (3pm).
The midfielder, who became a father earlier this week, remains sidelined by a groin problem and will miss the trip to Deepdale.
Head coach Steve Cooper also confirmed the Swans’ international contingent had all returned to the club’s Fairwood base with a clean bill of health; meaning the likes of Ben Cabango, Connor Roberts and Marc Guehi are all in contention for the weekend.
“Only George is missing through injury,” said the Swansea boss.
“He had some brilliant news this week, becoming a dad for the first time and as a club we want to congratulate him and his partner Grace on a very special moment.
“So, there is lots of stuff going on in George’s life at the moment, although not playing football just yet.
“But everyone reported back fit and in good health for the weekend.”
