Garry Monk happy with 1-1 draw with Chivas

Swans boss Garry Monk believes he can already see a "togetherness" in his squad after their opening friendly fixture on their pre-season tour of America.
The Swans looked to be heading to a 1-0 win over Chivas Guadalajara at Miller Park courtesy of a second-half strike from Nathan Dyer.
But a highly controversial penalty from Giovani Hernandez in the dying seconds of a niggly contest - that saw Neil Taylor and Jesus Sanchez both sent-off for an innocuous clash - enabled the former Mexican champions to snatch a share of the spoils.
Despite the late equaliser, Monk was more than happy with the performance of his young squad in front of a crowd of 31,237, the majority of which came to support their Mexican countrymen.



"Overall, considering the stature of the game and the fact that Chivas are a few weeks ahead of us in their pre-season preparations, I thought we did very well,'' declared Monk.
"It was a great workout for fitness and sharpness for the boys and at times we saw some very good play.
"We gave a good account of ourselves and I've got to be happy with our night's work.
"There's still plenty to improve on, but that comes with playing more games and work on the training ground.
"The aim of the game was for the boys to get some game time under their belts; to try and boost sharpness and fitness levels; plus implement some of the things we've been working on in training. I think we managed to do that.



"The really pleasing thing was that I started to see a togetherness in the group. When things started to go against us towards the end they were tight and that togetherness came to the fore - which is only a good thing.
"At the moment we are on course to where we want to be. There's still a long way to go, but the players know that.
"I want to win every game, so do the players. At the end there were some really harsh decisions, shall we say, that went against us and it was disappointing to concede that goal late on.
"But I don't really care about those decisions at this stage of the season. All I care about is what the players put into the game and what they get out of it.
"I said to the players 'well done' at the end, but now we must assess the game and go again in training. We must not stop looking to improve - and we won't."
Monk gave his entire squad at least 45 minutes of action, although skipper Ashley Williams was absent due to his return to Wales for family matters.
