Foundation invite veteran participant for special matchday experience to mark Remembrance fixture
Swansea City AFC Foundation invited former FIT Jacks participant Diane Boisson and her family to the Swansea.com Stadium for a special matchday experience to mark the club's Remembrance fixture against Watford.
Diane joined the Queen Alexandra’s Royal Army Nursing Corps in 1988 as a health care assistant, and served for 22 years before completing her service in 2010.
In 2023 Diane was a part of the second FIT Jacks cohort, joining the weekly fitness programme in an aim to lose weight and regain fitness, and made some firm friends among her fellow participants.
She formed part of the guard of honour for the Sky Bet Championship fixture against the Hornets, alongside members of the Royal British Legion, Cadets, and fellow members of the Swansea Veterans Hub.
In addition, Diane's great nephew Connor, whose father is a logistics officer in the Royal Navy, was given the opportunity to be a mascot for the fixture, leading the team out with captain Matt Grimes before kick-off.
Diane was proud to be part of the tributes to mark Remembrance, and was pleased to be able to give Connor the opportunity to be involved.
“It’s an honour to be asked and to be part of the Remembrance game,” said Diane.
“It’s also an honour to be part of the guard of honour amongst my fellow veterans and comrades.
“Connor had a wonderful time, and I was honoured to be asked if I had anybody who would want to be a mascot for the game.
“It was lovely to see him walking out with the captain and all of the family are really proud to see it.”
