‘Food for Thought’ campaign collects more than 800 meals for Swansea foodbank
The ‘Food for Thought’ campaign - launched by Swansea City in conjunction with Swansea City AFC Foundation and The Wave - has collected more than 800 meals for a Trussell Trust foodbank located at St Thomas' church.
The Jack Army donated 341.5kg of food and products across the week starting November 14, equating to 813 meals, with some donations still to be counted.
Foundation staff delivered the items to the Swansea Foodbank at Saint Thomas Church last Friday. The food will provide a welcome boost, with foodbanks all across the country expected to have a depleting level of stock available through the challenging winter months.
Paul France, head of Swansea City AFC Foundation, said: “Thank you to the Jack Army for their incredible response to our foodbank collection appeal.
“This is our first foodbank collection, and we are amazed by the excellent response from the community to support this important cause.
“It’s important for the Foundation to support those most in need within our region and we will continue to do so going forward.”
Marissa Rosser from Saint Thomas Church added: “It’s absolutely amazing to see the amount of food that has been donated. Thank you to all the Swansea City fans who donated.
“When everyone comes together like this fantastic things happen, and it’s really great to see.
“Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Swansea City, the Foundation and everyone who donated.”
