Flynn Downes completes West Ham transfer
Swansea City midfielder Flynn Downes has joined West Ham for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
Downes, 23, enjoyed an outstanding 2021-22 campaign with the Swans following his move from Ipswich Town, and took the step up to Championship level seamlessly in his stride.
He dovetailed superbly with captain Matt Grimes in the middle of the park, and no player in the Championship had a better pass completion rate than Downes last term.
He made 39 appearances in all competitions for Swansea, scoring one goal in a draw at Huddersfield.
He was also entrusted with the captain's armband for the FA Cup third-round tie against Southampton in January.
Downes – a boyhood West Ham fan – joins a Hammers’ side who finished seventh in the Premier League and secured European qualification under David Moyes last term.
Everyone at Swansea City thanks Flynn for his contribution to the club, and wish him every success in his future career.
