Florian Bianchini | We need to produce our best football more often
Florian Bianchini lifted the lid on the frustration in the Swansea City dressing room following the 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United, and says the Swans need to start producing their best football for longer spells in games.
The forward was on the scoresheet against the Blades, getting the opener with a close-range finish after Michael Cooper had parried a Ben Cabango header.
The Swans enjoyed much the better of the opening half against the promotion hopefuls, with Myles Peart-Harris denied a penalty when he was manhandled as he advanced on goal, while Liam Cullen was among those to go close to adding a second.
However, the game swung away from the hosts early in the second half when Rhian Brewster levelled before Harry Darling was harshly shown a straight red card for a clumsy challenge on the Blades goalscorer.
Harrison Burrows would eventually net the winner from the spot for the visitors, with head coach Luke Williams believing his players had deserved more for their efforts.
Bianchini felt the first-half showing highlighted what Swansea are capable of, but knows they need to produce that sort of football on a more consistent basis over the remainder of the season.
“We are really frustrated, I don’t think we can talk about other factors in the game because we have to concentrate on ourselves,” said the Frenchman.
“I thought we put in a really good performance and showed a good response in the first half, but we need to be able to keep that up for the whole game.
“The game is played over 90 minutes so I think it is clear we still need to do better, but to able to be more calm, to keep up the pressure.
“Of course I was pleased to score and I hope to get more, but it the team is more important because my job is not just to score goals, it is to try and help the team win games and we have not won this game.
“We have had a difficult run, but we have another game Saturday and I believe we have a team that can go and win that game, and that will be the aim.”
