Filip Lissah and Aimar Govea were delighted to cap off fine campaigns by collecting the Swansea City Under-21s' Player of the Season and Academy Player of the Season awards respectively.

Former Chelsea youth player Lissah was chosen as the pick of the under-21 squad for the 2023-24 season, while Govea was identified as the player to have made an impression across the academy's age groups. Both players have also made their first-team debuts this season.

Lissah has captained the club's under-21s for the majority of the development side's campaign, including skippering the Swans in the Nathaniel MG Cup final against The New Saints in January.

Just five days on from that showpiece at Jenner Park, the 19-year-old made his senior debut as a substitute in the Swans' FA Cup fourth-round tie against AFC Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium.

His skill and character also earned him a contract extension, which will see him remain in SA1 until 2027.

"It's bee a good season. I've enjoyed a lot of it, captaining the under-21s has been a big achievement for me," said Lissah.

"Making my senior debut, that was the best moment I've had so far in my career. Overall, it's been a brilliant season.

"I want to thank all of the coaches and medical staff at the academy and the club for helping me throughout the season.

"It means a a lot to have won this award, and I can't wait to get started next season."

It has also been a season to remember for 17-year-old Govea.

Aimar Govea

Govea made the full-time step up to the club’s under-18s’ squad, and has recently signed a long-term professional deal in SA1.

He made his first-team debut in the Swans' Championship game against Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough in March, and has since made four more appearances for Luke Williams' side.

His pace and trickery have caught the eye and he recently helped the under-18s reach the Professional Development League Cup final.

"Making my first team debut felt amazing, with all the fans and being at a stadium. It's such a good feeling," he said.

"I couldn't believe it at the start; when I went up to train with the first team following my pro contract.

"All of the first-team players have helped me every training session, and now I have just got to keep learning more and more.

"To play in the cup final with my friends was a great experience. It wasn't the result we wanted, but we definitely learnt from it.

"To win this award just tops off the best couple of months in my career."
