Evan Watts was delighted to celebrate his 20th birthday with another clean sheet and three points following Swansea City Under-21s' victory against Bristol City at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The development side extended their winning run at the home of the Swans – which stretches back to the start of the 2022-23 campaign – thanks to Ben Lloyd’s first-half strike after good pressing work, and a second-half thunderbolt from Glory Nzingo.

The first half had been an even affair, with goalkeeper Watts making some key saves for the hosts, but the Swans had by far the better of the second period as they claimed the spoils in the Professional Development League encounter.

It was a second clean sheet in a row for Watts, following the Swans' dominant 6-0 win over Fleetwood Town in the Premier League Cup last week.

"It's the ideal day for me. Waking up I was a bit nervous for the game because Bristol City are a good team and they had a strong side out," said Watts.

"We started a bit slowly but all in all, 2-0, a clean sheet and three points, we couldn't have asked for much more really.

"In recent times we have really shown how we can defend and, if it's not going our way, then we really dig in deep.

"In fairness, the boys getting that first goal really helped give us the cushion, it helped massively and relieved some of that pressure. After that we settled down and managed to play our way."

And the Wales youth international praised the group's togetherness and hopes they build on the success of last season, when they reached the Professional Development League play-offs.

"I'm loving it, every day is great with these lads," he added.

"It's a great group of boys, everyone gets on together. There's that competitiveness within the group which helps massively come game day.

"I think there's a real togetherness in the group and I think that will push us on far this season.

"Since I've been involved I don't think I've lost a game here and Lloydy [Ben Lloyd] has been here even longer and he said he hasn't lost a game here either.

"I don't what it is about the stadium or the surface that suits us, but I feel like we're invincible when we come here."
