Head coach Luke Williams praised Lewis O’Brien’s Swansea City debut following the midfielder’s energetic showing in the win at Bristol City.
Making his bow following his deadline-day loan move from Nottingham Forest, O’Brien proved a combative presence in the centre of the park.
With the ball, he regularly looked to lift the tempo and drive Swansea forward, and dovetailed nicely with Goncalo Franco.
O’Brien so nearly ended the day with an assist too, his hunger to win the ball seeing him come out on top in an aerial challenge before delivering an outstanding cross that Jisung Eom fired at the keeper.
And the Swans boss felt there were encouraging signs from the new arrival.
“His energy is just so evident, he competes for every single ball,” said Williams.
“He has regularly outjumped an opponent who has got a few inches on him because he is determined.
“He also showed a lot of quality on the ball, he is very unlucky not to have an assist when he played the pass for Jisung.
“He breaks from midfield, he must have been exhausted at that point, but he makes the effort to challenge and get there, and then the cross is outstanding.
“It was such a positive performance for his first one.”
