Emily Thomas v TNS

Swansea City Women’s forward Emily Thomas was grateful to be able to give back to her side after she netted in their 5-1 Genero Adran Trophy semi-final victory.

Thomas opened the scoring against The New Saints with her sixth goal in the Adran Trophy, heading home a cross from Chloe Chivers six minutes in.

Sammy Wynne made it two with a curling strike from distance, before Thomas set up Stacey John-Davis to make it 3-0.

John-Davis hit two more goals within two minutes in the second half to complete her hat-trick, with a late TNS goal not enough to prevent the Swans reaching the final.

Thomas was delighted to have reached the showpiece and pay back the efforts of her teammates.

“We’ve worked so hard, so to get to the final with a 5-1 win, we couldn’t ask for much more and it’s really exciting to be going to that final," she said.

“I knew that I would have to put a shift in, so to show the team I’m here to help with a goal and an assist is great.

“We all want to win that trophy; we’ve had a great run and we’re all targeting it now.

“I feel like I can be an asset in the air, I’ve got the height advantage most of the time so to be able to finish it was nice.

“I think the early goal settled the whole game down, at the point I think it calmed us down and it let us focus on playing our football.”
