Emily Thomas v Barry Town

Emily Thomas feels Swansea City are starting to build momentum after their 4-0 win over Llanfair United Ladies in the Adran Trophy.

Aimee Deacon continued her rich vein of form as she opened the scoring, notching her seventh goal in three games as she rounded the keeper and tapped home.

The Swans got their second when Chloe Chivers struck a 30-yard free kick beyond the Llanfair goalkeeper.

Thomas made it 3-0 four minutes later as she cut in from the right hand side before arrowing a low shot into the bottom left corner.

Emily Richards would round off the scoring with 10 minutes to go, curling an effort into the bottom left corner to ensure safe passage into the quarter-finals.

Thomas was pleased to help her team into the next round and feels they have bounced back well following their only defeat of the season against TNS.

“It was nice to get myself that goal and give back to the girls,” said Thomas.

“We were the stronger team from the get go, we had plenty of chances and it took a while to settle in.

“We never underestimate the teams from the tiers below us because they can always come out and cause problems.

“From the get go we were much better, we played some great football and the confidence in the team should be really high now.

“Scoring plenty of goals and having clean sheets is really important to us, were heading back into the league in two weeks and we need to keep this momentum going.

“This competition is very important to us, we are all desperate to be winning silverware this year and we are working hard for it.”

Having played as a forward for the majority of the previous campaign, Thomas has found herself a regular at right-back for the Swans this term.

The 20-year-old feels that she is beginning to settle into her new role.

“I’m enjoying the new position,” said Thomas.

“I’ve had a different role this year, so for me to go forward and have that chance is a confidence booster, and I was really pleased with the finish.

“It’s different but it gives me a lot more creative opportunities to go forward and I like helping the team out at the back, I’m really happy and enjoying it.”
